City Council Tours New Justice Center
The City of Gulf Shores is getting closer to opening its new Justice Center, an important milestone for public safety and future city growth. At the end of May, members of the Gulf Shores City Council toured the construction site with Police Chief Dan Netemeyer, who guided them through the interior and exterior of the facility. Throughout the visit, Chief Netemeyer highlighted recent progress, showcased completed areas, and discussed what the community can expect when the center officially opens.
With roughly two months remaining in the construction schedule, the Justice Center is rapidly taking shape. The project includes the renovation of a 44,000-square-foot main building that will house Police Department operations and Municipal Courts. It also features a new Detention Facility and a dedicated Police Fleet Vehicle Storage Building. Together, these upgrades will enhance operational efficiency, support long-term planning, and help the city meet the demands of continued growth.
Approximately 6 weeks remain in the construction timeline. The next two months will involve an intense and focused effort to deliver the facility by mid-July. While construction wraps up, the City of Gulf Shores will also begin installing owner-furnished storage systems, furniture, and IT/AV equipment throughout June and July.
These installations are expected to be completed by July 24, keeping the project on schedule for the Police Department and Municipal Courts to begin moving in during the first week of August.
